Overview

The channel has 1.1M followers on Instagram. One link sits in the bio, pinned to every post. Tap it and you land in the App Store, then straight into onboarding. The channel is the funnel — we built what it funnels into: the onboarding, the paywall, and the system that keeps people paying after month one.

Onboarding that tells a story before it asks for anything

The first screen isn't a feature list, it's a notification: people unlock their phone 96 times a day. By the time the app asks for an icon and a wallpaper, the user has already decided who they want to be inside it. The flow closes with a drag-to-confirm slider, the last deliberate beat of investment before the paywall.

Onboarding — gender question
Onboarding — commitment step

A streak that punishes a missed day more than it rewards a kept one

Scheduled content drops timed to the channel's usual posting cadence, push notifications that land at the same moments people already reach for their phone, and a home screen widget that keeps the app visible without ever being opened. None of it is complicated to build — all of it is designed to keep the app visible after the onboarding high wears off.

Pre-launch waitlist landing page

A waitlist before there was an app to open

Before the App Store listing existed, this page did the same job the bio link does now: one headline, one button. It ran long enough to build a list the app could launch straight into on day one.

Paywall — try for $0.00
Paywall — plan selection

A €0 trial that still feels like a purchase

The button reads “Try for $0.00,” not “Start free trial.” Pricing the offer at zero after ten screens of buildup taps the same sunk-cost instinct as a real purchase. This is a hard paywall — no preview tier — and it only works because a decade of trust already primed the audience before they opened the app.

The one change we'd make+€4K/mo

Move the same onboarding to a web page instead of the App Store link, and Stripe replaces Apple Pay. Same funnel, same followers — just less of Apple's 30% cut. That's €20K becoming €25K MRR.

Analytics

Every screen in onboarding is a drop-off point we can measure, and the paywall itself runs as a live experiment — product configurations, price points, and trial lengths tested against each other. That's the difference between “the app makes money” and knowing exactly which screen, price, and line of copy is responsible for it.

Your audience is already there. The app that earns from it isn't.
